Predictions — not for navigation
These are LINZ's astronomical predictions. Actual water levels differ with barometric pressure, wind and storm surge — commonly by 0.3 m, and by a metre or more in a severe low. Do not use this site for navigation or for any decision where being wrong is dangerous. For navigation use the official LINZ tide tables and current charts. Heights are metres above chart datum, not above sea level, and times are New Zealand local time including daylight saving.

Nothing is computed
LINZ has already done the harmonic analysis. For the 88 standard ports this site reproduces their published high and low waters verbatim — same times, same heights, unrounded. High versus low is not labelled in the source files, so each tide is typed by comparing it with the tides either side of it in time.
Secondary ports
286 of 305 secondary places get pages. The rest are listed but have no page, because LINZ publishes no time difference for them and deriving one would mean inventing it. See how secondary ports work.
Times and heights
Times are New Zealand local time, including daylight saving, exactly as LINZ publishes them. Heights are metres above chart datum — see what that means.
Limitations
Astronomical prediction only: no weather, no barometric pressure, no storm surge, no river flow, no tsunami. Not for navigation. Rebuilt annually as LINZ publishes new years. Reviewed Aug 2026.
